It has been a couple of days since I finished reading this splendid novel, but I can still feel Zarin’s heartache. In this heart-wrenching debut contemporary, Tanaz Bhathena gives voice to the misunderstood and the condemned. So when Zarin and Porus end up dead in a car crash, people begin to wonder about the girl that was Zarin Wadia. It is only in Porus, her childhood acquaintance, that she finds some kind of a solace from this relentless torment of a life she is living. ![]() But what no one tries to understand is the hurt coursing through her veins upon not knowing how her mother died or how she came to be from a girl looking for love to a girl whom everyone hates. They drown her with their hypocrisy and presumptions. They call her names – slut, rebel, ungrateful, bastard.
